"It's a bit acoustic, it's a bit indie pop, it's a bit rock and celtic, it's a bit "angry young women" and a bit of that "don't take yourself too serious"-type..."

Ellissay is a German singer/songwriter with an eclectic taste of music. The fact that Kings of Leon share the same CD-shelf as Simon & Garfunkel and Clannad may seem odd but influenced her songwriting all the more so. There's no rule. It's a bit of everything.

It all started with a mandolin lesson and the lack of a diary. An acoustic guitar was added two years later and the occasional private party gave opportunity to play in front of an audience. But those moments were rare. Not able to read or write music she recorded her songs only to store them in a shoebox.

In 2003 a befriended audio engineer listened to one of Ellissay's "shoebox"-tapes during lunchbreak and told her to record those songs professionally. It took him two years to convince the shy singer/songwriter.

Due to producer Dirk Neuss’ ambitious work and the help of colleagues the 29year–old broadcast engineer Ellissay finally recorded the first track “Feel Free” for a demo EP.

Since its online-release in October 2008 the singer's song "Feel Free" made it onto various webstreaming radio-stations, has been played at major sports events at Sheffield Arena in England and an US radio-station added the song to their programme. Also they decided to give an acoustic sitting-room-version of the song "Sineád Gere" a shot on air. With the help of an English DJ touring Asia and Australia the single can also be found on an Australian radio-station in Queensland.

The follow-up "Sinéad Gere" was recorded with a new formed studio band and also recorded live at OnLine Studios, Germany. Audio engineer Udo Heck signed responsible for the production of the song which was made available for free download on Ellissay's website. American radio-stations added the demo-version to their playlists just days after release.

Two choirs, six studio band projects, one orchestra and one percussion group later it's time to take the music out of Ellissay's sitting-room in Edinburgh, Scotland onto the small stages around town.

Bring it on!
