					<description>Hiya folk!

I have had some emails asking if I was still alive, if my homepage was actually up-to-date and if I was playing anywhere at the moment.
Yes, I do feel guilty of not having been in touch much lately. Though I cannot really excuse that I have a very good excuse...does that make sense?

So, no. My homepage is not really up-to-date as you can see. Not much has happened during the last months when it comes to music. I&apos;ve not written anything lately and I&apos;ve hardly picked up the guitar. Sometimes you just feel not like it and then there are other things that are just more important. Unfortunately.
And why sticking something completely random on here just to fill the space and pretend something interesting is happening if there&apos;s not? So I decided to leave it for a while.

Anyhow, I had so many plans this first half year of playing all those open mics and stuff but other things seemed to have gotten in the way instead which is a bummer but were a lot more important. That doesn&apos;t mean I won&apos;t play any in the future though!

So what&apos;s keeping me from making music at the moment? I could give you a list with stuff really.
But number one on that long list is the arrival of a wee background singer in a few weeks&apos; time. YAY!!

Now that has most of my attention but I decided to do something musically again as well. I am taking part in a 50/90 challenge which is about writing 50 songs in 90 days. I&apos;ve literally just signed up a few days ago and had no time yet to sit down with an instrument to write anything. Anyone who makes music can sign up and profit from other musicians&apos; inputs. You don&apos;t have to write 50 songs. Even if you only write one song it&apos;ll be worth it. At least you&apos;d written something. I thought I might give it a try as I have suffered from writer&apos;s block over the last months. Not sure if anything will come of it but hey!
If you wanna give it a try click here. There are weekly challenges as well you can take part in if you don&apos;t know what to write about. So go over there and sign up!
If it is in any way successfull you might get new songs to listen to pretty soon. So stay tuned and check back.

Apart from that I am going to retire into the garden now with an ice-cream and the guitar. I have to start somewhere...

If you can enjoy the summer sun. But remember to put some sunscreen on or you&apos;ll end up like me - a red lobster! lol

Oh and by the way - only because I had requests from peepz - I have a few MAXI-CD&apos;s left of Feel Free/Sin&amp;eacute;ad Gere. If you would like to get a free copy just leave me a message with your name and address at music@ellissay.com !

Cheerio!

New musings and music...

Januaries are in general soooooo boring and soooo unproductive.
I haven&apos;t even attempted to pick up the guitar and write anything new.
Everything is just so dull it&apos;s not much inspiration, is it?
Februaries again are sooooo much more fun. Still a bit dull but there&apos;s hope
once you managed to get through the first half of the month.
March and springtime aren&apos;t far away.
*what the heck is she talking about?*

So, to much of my neighbour&apos;s amusement I have cleaned and polished my guitar,
have picked a new plectrum and started recording some material. Yay!
*about time*

My voice still lets me down here and there. It&apos;s kinda funny to think that my voice goes
radically off-key sometimes when it actually shouldn&apos;t. Not that I ever wanted to sing off-key
intentionally. Apart from karaoke evenings. I just can&apos;t resist to sing out of tune. Hence
I very rarely get invited to sing karaoke.
*I&apos;ll keep that in mind*

Anyway, good news (or not, whichever way you wanna look at it) I have uploaded a new
song to the recorder - &amp;quot;why don&apos;t you cry&amp;quot;. You probably are already listening to it. I just couldn&apos;t wait another five
months to record this professionally so you will have to suffer through this homerecording now.
C&apos;mon stick it on repeat!

Just kidding.
No I am not.
Ach well.

Coming up soon - me playing live in a pub round the corner if you wish! With or without this new song...

So, stay tuned and keep smiling!

Christmas &amp;amp; New Year 2010

Another year almost done and dusted. Already! Time flies!
So time to relax...RELAX?! Okay, time to PARTY!! Get your partyshoes out, set the tree alight and have a fancy sleighride in the snow. What do you mean, you&apos;ve not got snow? Jeez, you&apos;re the only one!

So whichever way you chose to celebrate the next few days, I hope you&apos;ll have a fantastic time with plenty warm cotton socks that&apos;ll keep your toes save from Mr Frost!

Have a Merry Christmas and A fantastic start into the new year of 2011!

November - December 2010:

I have done it! I went to an open mic night in October and played three songs. The fact I completely messed up my own tracks because I was too nervous didn&apos;t kill the good vibes in the pub and was so much fun I&apos;ll go back soon.

This last month I have been kind of busy trying new material. I&apos;ve been polishing some old tracks, wrote some lines and tried some cover songs but a cracked voice is preventing me from doing any real good recordings. I managed to put one together quickly though. Christmas starts early so you&apos;ll find the rough version of &amp;quot; She couldn&apos;t stop&amp;quot; in the player. And yes, you will hear I don&apos;t use autotune!

If you are in Germany and you fancy some rocking show why not go to &amp;quot;Weisses Pferdchen&amp;quot; in Monschau to see &amp;quot;Playground&amp;quot; December 4th? I am sure they&apos;ll rock your Christmas socks off!

Last but not least; go to Analogsympathisant&apos;s website to listen to my song &amp;quot;Monochrome Memories&amp;quot; from the electronic album &amp;quot;Bewegexemplar&amp;quot;.

<title>Monochrome Memories, new website and more</title>
					<link>http://ellissay.com/news.cfm?feature=1529273&amp;postid=598152</link>
<description>(original posted in October 2010, moved by admin)

First of all I have to disappoint you - there is nothing really new to report. Honestly I have been lazing about for the last six months.

Okay, that&apos;s not quite the truth:
My friends of electronic project &amp;quot;Analogsympathisant&amp;quot; have just released their new album.
&amp;quot;Bewegexemplar&amp;quot; features one of my songs &amp;quot;Monochrome Memories&amp;quot; which some of you may recall from the &amp;quot;Activ8!Radio&amp;quot;- sessions.

The album is an hommage to the analogue days of electronic music. It&apos;s a bit 80s, it is a bit folk meets electronica and it is certainly a high-standard production. I am actually really excited what they made of this wee song. Go and check out their website and give it a listen: http://www.myspace.com/analogsympathisant
If you are really quick and you are either in the UK or Germany you can get a free copy of the album by writing a line to music@ellissay.com
Good luck!!

Apart from that I have spent a few days re-arranging an &amp;quot;old&amp;quot; song. Actually it&apos;s never been played live and it&apos;s never been released before so ACTUALLY it is not OLD at all! Ha! Some of you may remember a wee song called &amp;quot; Can&apos;t stop the rain&amp;quot; - actually it was a very loooooooong song - played on mandolin. Forget the mandolin and forget the semi-torturing seven minutes. It&apos;s all rock&apos;n&apos;roll in just under three minutes now with a finger-torturing change of chords. Life could be so easy!

I&apos;ve been rehearsing some of my older songs and have re-arranged some of the stuff I played at &amp;quot;Weisses Pferdchen&amp;quot;. My two-finger-picking-song &amp;quot; Why don&apos;t you cry&amp;quot; is now a full finger-picking-arrangement! I am still a bit slow in using all my fingers but I start being a bit more experimental!

Besides that I have picked up hoola-hooping as a sport....

Actually the word &amp;quot;actually&amp;quot; was voted my most used word by my colleagues. Actually I think they are actually right.

And now for something really REALLY important - I ACTUALLY am going to play live! Dunno where and when but I definately wanna give my neighbours a break. The open-mic scene here in Scotland is pretty lively and I thought I might give it a go. Certainly it is going to be a new experience as I have never ever in my life played a pub before! Nevermind an open-mic-night. It&apos;s something I always missed in far away Germany. It gives everyone an opportunity to try some material in front of an audience and meet like-minded musicians.
So if you are nearby gimme a shout as I need someone to push me on stage otherwise I won&apos;t do it. Rabbit-hearted me...

That&apos;s it so far from my wee corner of the world.

See you soon. Either here, there or in a pub.

Cheerio!
